Alana Dellatan Seaton, MMT, MT-BC

Alana is a board-certified music therapist with a Master in Music Therapy degree from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Alana earned her Bachelor’s degree of Musical Arts from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. Her internship was completed at River Oaks Psychiatric Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Alana has had experience at both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient eating disorder clinics, as well as maintaining a private practice working with children diagnosed with Autism and Pervasive Developmental Disorder.

Her expertise includes conducting expressive / experiential groups with diverse psychiatric populations, including eating disorders, sexual trauma, chemical addictions, and compulsive behaviors. She has served as an integral part of the treatment team for a child and adolescent psychiatric hospital. Alana has also had experience utilizing music therapy and expressive therapy techniques with children, adolescents and adults of various skill, functioning, and communication levels.

Alana has conducted and published research on the use of music with chronic food refusal, and her master’s thesis explored the relationship between music and relaxation on the mealtime stress levels of eating disordered patients.
